Education and Jobs

We match the skills you have and build the skills you need to succeed at work and in life.

LCH offers free English as a Second Language classes, citizenship classes, and job placement services. We work with individuals to understand their personal and professional goals, and connect with the resources needed to achieve these goals.

“Let’s take the opportunity that La Comunidad Hispana and the Oxford School District are giving us to continue studying. Do not leave it for tomorrow if you can do it today. It will be better when tomorrow comes and we have in our hands the GED diploma!”

Citizenship Classes

Citizenship classes prepare students for the United States Civics exam and help them understand their rights, responsibilities, and resources as new citizens.

The classes are held at:

Kennett Square La Comunidad Hispana (LCH)
731 West Cypress Street Kennett Square, PA 19348

Wednesday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Oxford: Hopewell Elementary School
602 Garfield Street Oxford, PA 19363

Monday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Class registration is ongoing throughout the year

Our small group class setting allows for the teachers and volunteers to work with each student to grow their understanding of the application and exam process. Classes are free and open to the public.

Students can stay in the class as long as they need to feel comfortable with taking the exam.  We have a 100% pass rate with students who take the exam who completed their classes at LCH.  Guest speakers, such as the local police force and local government, visit the class throughout the year to bring a hands-on understanding of what it means to be a United States Citizen.

“I am proud to be a Citizen of the United States. And now have new opportunities for jobs so I can support my family.”

Job Placement

LCH works with over 150 local employers to connect job seekers with potential employment, and for businesses looking to hire.

We believe in growing our community to its fullest potential, and will direct members to the resources they need to find stable employment to support their families.

After a review of current job skills, we work with local businesses to find employment matches that fit the needs of the employer and the goals of the job candidate.  We refer clients to employers and job skills training programs with Wings for Success, ServSafe, the Latino Business Resource Center, the Financial Stability Center, and other community partners.

“When I first came to LCH, I was hopeless. But LCH was so welcoming, and the staff helped me find a job.”

We Provide

  1. Consultation to discuss professional goals
  2. Review of job skills and resume
  3. Direct connections with local employers
  4. Referrals to job skills training programs
  5. Access to local resources
