GED Classes

Our GED classes, taught in Spanish, help our community gain confidence and independence.

“Let’s take the opportunity that La Comunidad Hispana and the Oxford School District are giving us to continue studying. Do not leave it for tomorrow if you can do it today. It will be better when tomorrow comes and we have in our hands the GED diploma!”

This new program is the perfect opportunity for those that are interested in resuming their studies or gaining access to better jobs.

Whether you join us with the goal of going on to GED classes and earning your diploma, or whether you want to improve your knowledge and skills to gain more confidence in the workplace, we are here to support your personal and professional growth.

The GED classes are held at:

Citizenship Classes

Citizenship classes prepare students for the United States Civics exam and help them understand their rights, responsibilities, and resources as new citizens.

Our small group class setting allows for the teachers and volunteers to work with each student to grow their understanding of the application and exam process. Classes are free and open to the public.

Students can stay in the class as long as they need to feel comfortable with taking the exam.  We have a 100% pass rate with students who take the exam who completed their classes at LCH.  Guest speakers, such as the local police force and local government, visit the class throughout the year to bring a hands-on understanding of what it means to be a United States Citizen.

The classes are held at:

Kennett Square La Comunidad Hispana (LCH)
731 West Cypress Street Kennett Square, PA 19348

Wednesday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Oxford: Hopewell Elementary School
602 Garfield Street Oxford, PA 19363

Job Placement

LCH works with over 150 local employers to connect job seekers with potential employment, and for businesses looking to hire.

We believe in growing our community to its fullest potential, and will direct members to the resources they need to find stable employment to support their families.

After a review of current job skills, we work with local businesses to find employment matches that fit the needs of the employer and the goals of the job candidate.  We refer clients to employers and job skills training programs with Wings for Success, ServSafe, the Latino Business Resource Center, the Financial Stability Center, and other community partners.

“When I first came to LCH, I was hopeless. But LCH was so welcoming, and the staff helped me find a job.”

New opportunity for 2018:

LCH is looking to establish a corps of 15-20 men and women to enroll in a fully paid apprenticeship program with a locally managed electrical contracting company. Apprentices will earn money while receiving over 240 hours of classroom training as well as 8,000 hours of on-the-job experience over the course of four years. Furthermore, participants will qualify for full benefits packages. Candidates must have a high school diploma, proof of residence or citizenship, and must be able to speak and read in English. Interest meetings will be held at our Kennett Square location on September 9th at 5:30PM. If you are interested, please send an email to Clark (cdavis@lchps.org) or call 610-444-7550 X266.
