LCH Partners with VITA for Free Tax Return Support

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance on Saturdays at LCH during tax season.

In partnership with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), LCH will host free tax return support in their Kennett Square location for the fourth year.

Every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from January 28 through April 15, certified volunteers from the VITA program will be available at LCH to help families file their returns.

“We look forward to coming back to LCH and helping the greater southern Chester County community,” said Donna Laird, staff member of Life Transforming Ministries who helps to administer the VITA program across multiple sites.

The service is free and offered in English and Spanish.  No appointment is needed.  If available slots fill up, families can return the following week to participate in the program.  The program’s outreach focuses on those who have a household income of $60,000 or less; however, if a family is over, VITA can still accommodate them.  “Wait time might just be a little longer while we help those who fall within our guidelines,” said Laird.

LCH has seen the benefits firsthand of the program being offered at their agency.  “Because our members are already familiar with our building, they have the confidence to visit LCH over the weekend for this special service,” said Norma Diego-Flores, LCH Outreach and Education Coordinator who helps to organize the VITA program.  “Last year alone, over $200,000 was refunded to 113 of our members.”

VITA is offered at multiple sites around southern Chester County.  For those interested in learning more about other sites or volunteering with VITA, contact Donna Laird at dlaird@quietrevolution.org or 610-380-9099.
